about

Brothers Chris and Jon Breen started Scarsic as a studio project in 2011 and wrote four songs which were released as a demo in an effort to gain fans and attract additional musicians to the project. Due to the initial lack of members, Chris performed all bass, guitar, and vocal tracks on the 2011 demo while Jon held down the percussion duties along with heavy influence over song arrangements. In late 2012, Chris and Jon were joined by bassist Bill Loucas and they pushed forward with completing a full-length of new music. Bill added a unique sound to the band, incorporating a more distorted bass tone than was present on the 2011 demo. He also showcased some slap bass technique in particular songs which added a whole new dimension to the Scarsic style. They began recording their new material in the fall of 2013 in Chris and Jon's home studio. As with the demo, Chris performed the vocals and mixed/mastered the album. "A Tale of Two Worlds" is a noticeable expansion on the band's initial sound and highlights the diverse potential of each member.

Track Name: Time's Arrow
(Verse 1)
Memories of yesterday
Grow into fantasies

(Chorus)
Frayed and torn
Fear stems from our need to conform
Is this the norm?

Brave the storm
Change won't occur until we make it our own

(Verse 2)
The arrow of time will never falter
A bleeding heart will only heal if it knows the truth
Some things cannot saved
And can't be altered
The path that lies ahead will only embolden the youth

(Chorus)
Frayed and torn
Fear stems from our need to conform
Is this the norm?

Brave the storm
Change won't occur until we make it our own
Track Name: Land Of Sin
(Intro)
Set aside the hate
And move forward
Don't make the same mistake

Set aside the hate
And move forward
Don't make the same mistake

(Verse 1)
Greed
Disease
They mean the same fucking thing

First chance I get
I'll move to reset
And realize this dream

One day
All who must endure
Will get a reprieve

That day will be
Out of reach until we find
a fucking vaccine

(Chorus)
Slowly
Building
My eyes awaken to the task at hand

Slowly
Building
I've failed to make it in this land of sin

(Intro Repeat)
Set aside the hate
And move forward
Don't make the same mistake

Set aside the hate
And move forward
Don't make the same mistake

(Verse 2)
I
Refuse
To be a cog in the wheel

Help me understand
how these open wounds
can be revealed

A change in approach
is what matters the most
if we want to be healed

Let's not be fooled
By the ones who rule
and make back room deals

(Chorus)
Slowly
Building
My eyes awaken to the task at hand

Slowly
Building
I've failed to make it in this land of sin

(Breakdown)
Land of Sin

(Chorus)
Slowly
Building
My eyes awaken to the task at hand

Slowly
Building
I've failed to make it in this land of sin

(Breakdown)
Land of Sin
Track Name: Anthem Of Apathy
(Intro)
Rage
Don't let it
Get the best of your hopes and dreams

We all fall short of what others perceive
Don't trade your peace of mind for a shiny disease

Fame
Don't chase it
It is not what it seems

(Verse 1)
This song is for the ones with no fucking empathy
Your accolades are always made of psychopathy
Let's celebrate your avarice and vanity
This is your anthem of apathy

(Pre-chorus)
You've lost all your modesty
Your honesty
Has been erased

(Chorus)
How many times have you lied?
To try and regain control
You're just a moth that cannot deny the flame

How many times have you tried?
To sit and ponder alone
If you're just a pawn in someone else’s game?

I know it can't be easy
To open up your eyes
But you might just like what you see
Buried between the lines

LINES

(Verse 2)
Is it too late for you to change what you're all about?
Your arrogance and flatulence are made of doubt
You've built a fake world full of moral alchemy
This is your anthem of apathy

(Pre-chorus)
You've lost all your modesty
Your honesty
Has been erased

(Chorus)
How many times have you lied?
To try and regain control
You're just a moth that cannot deny the flame

How many times have you tried?
To sit and ponder alone
If you're just a pawn in someone else’s game?

You know you can't keep being
Ignorant and blind
It's time to start believing
What's buried between the lines

Buried between the lines

(Post Chorus)
Anthem of apathy
Buried between the lines
Reclaim your humanity
Look for it deep inside

Buried between the lines

(Chorus)
How many times have you lied?
To try and regain control
You're just a moth that cannot deny the flame

How many times have you tried?
To sit and ponder alone
If you're just a pawn in someone else’s game?

You know you can't keep being
Ignorant and blind
It's time to start believing
What's buried between the lines
Track Name: Innocence
(Verse 1)

You'd risk it all just to barely survive, not to prosper
How can you ever recover?
He'll cut off your hand just prove his point to an outsider
Bleeding all over
Wasn't suppose to be this way but you get what you pay for
Minds aren't changed by being inhumane and showing callous disdain
to each other
Things come full circle
and now the butcher is frail and disabled
Will he show pride for his mass genocide
or regret shaking hands with the devil?

(Chorus)
Who do you think you are?
Imposing your will on the frail and disabled
Who do you think you are?
Discount the rest while your ego's enabled

(Verse 2)

There comes a time
when everybody must rely on a care taker
Who will be your savior?
Once imagined, there can be only one way out of this disorder
Playing the role of deceiver
A false escape that will only lead to an early grave
Our minds must deny that which we are deprived
And all we can do is hold on to what's left of the truth
Faith is a tool that the butcher will use

(Chorus)
Who do you think you are?
Imposing your will on the frail and disabled
Who do you think you are?
Discount the rest while your ego's enabled

(Post chorus)
Why do you deceive?
Why can't you believe?
That the victims will tell the whole story?
Of a thousand lies
That would hypnotize
Arrogance is overrated

Why do you deceive?
Why can't you believe?
That the victims will tell the whole story?
Of a thousand lies
That would hypnotize
Innocence will never make it
Track Name: A Tale of Two Worlds (Part 1)
(Verse 1)
Looking back on what we've done
Away from prying eyes
Will show all of us just how far we've come

There's so much that's left to do
And now we must decide
How much we're all willing to gain or lose

Better as one

(Chorus)
Hold your judgements
Some will say it cannot be
I don't know if all is lost
But soon we'll see

On our own
Remember those who've paved the way
Patiently
We wait until this world is free

(Verse 2)
Tidal waves of false restraint
Could come crashing down
If we're not ready to embrace a change in pace

Realize a brand new life
Will there be common ground?
Or will we drown in all of the same old lies?

Better as one

(Chorus)
Hold your judgements
Some will say it cannot be
I don't know if all is lost
But soon we'll see

On our own
Remember those who've paved the way
Patiently
We wait until this world is free

(Post Chorus)
Why lie?
Speak truth
To all the timid
Needing proof

Why lie?
Speak truth
To all the timid
Needing...

(Chorus)
Hold your judgements
Some will say it cannot be
I don't know if all is lost
But soon we'll see

On our own
Remember those who've paved the way
Patiently
We wait until this world is free
Track Name: A Tale of Two Worlds (Part 2)
(Verse 1)
What will it take
For all of you to see our haunted fate?
We sit on the edge of forever
Make no mistake

At this rate
We're headed for a picture perfect doomsday
Our one chance is to fight it together
It must be replaced

It must be replaced

(Chorus)
Say
You'll never let it be
But it's too late

Say
You'll never let it be
But it's too late

(Verse 2)
It's all in the past
Now enjoy this world where dreams never last
We only have ourselves to blame
The die is cast

Full blown collapse
Everything we knew is gone or fading fast
Now we all must endure the pain
The future's been displaced

The future's been displaced

(Chorus)
Say
You'll never let it be
But it's too late

Say
You'll never let it be
But it's too late
Track Name: Within
(Verse 1)
Somewhere within

We all see the rising sun
Some will oppose and resist
But its up to us, it has begun

(Chorus)
I'm not sure, who I am
This new world will give us identity
I'm not sure, if I can
This new world will give us serenity

(Breakdown)
For so long we've ached
Now we're ready for a fucking change
Things won't stay the same
We've put this world through enough fucking pain

(Breakdown 2)
Dawn of a new day
Free from plato's cave
No longer a slave
We all must be brave

(Verse 2)

Somewhere within

We all see the rising sun
Some will oppose and resist
But its up to us, it has begun

A quick look in the mirror will reveal how long we've gone
Don't wait for tomorrow's sun when we all know that today has been won

(Chorus)
I'm not sure, who I am
This new world will give us identity
I'm not sure, if I can
This new world will give us serenity
Track Name: Live By These Words
(Verse 1)
Where to begin?
I feel the pull of my deepest fears
Closing in

Walk down the line
of this life before you're left behind
one more time

Don't forget that if you lose your way
All the pieces fall
into place

But I don't have all the answers
just stay away
avoid the maze

(Chorus)
Live by these words
Don't let your life become a maze
Live by these words
Unless you want your light to fade
Live by these words
Don't let your mind stay the same
Live by these words
Think of your mind like a sharpened blade

(Verse 2)
I cannot hold it in much longer
when I see our minds are sick
and our lives are fixed

What solutions can see fruition
inside us all?
us all

I don't know
what I'm supposed to do
but I will forge ahead
and start anew

Don't dull the blade
And keep your head up high
where it belongs
where it belongs

(Chorus)
Live by these words
Don't let your life become a maze
Live by these words
Unless you want your light to fade
Live by these words
Don't let your mind stay the same
Live by these words
Think of your mind like a sharpened blade
Track Name: Citizen Chained
(Verse 1)
All of my life has been a race
Nothing else can compare
A cutthroat world is where I've made
My path of great despair

I once thought that I had it all
Power and wealth to spare
Then one day I began to fall
Through depths, beyond repair

It's time to re-envision

Today I make
a new self image

But part of me
Wants to repeat
My past of shameless greed

I hope I'll be forgiven

(Chorus)
Live in a castle I've built with my iron soul
Live in a mansion of guilt where I call home

I can see plainly now where I've gone wrong
This is where I belong

(Verse 2)
Old habits die hard in this game
But fabric always tears
My lies have built a house of cards
Collapse is what I bear

Chained to my demons for a time
Stuck in a golden chair
The smooth surface brings to mind
How life can be unfair

I don't need your protection

Tonight I make
my last confession

That part of me
Cannot repeat
My past of shameless greed

I've lost my false perfection

(Chorus)
Live in a castle I've built with my iron soul
Live in a mansion of guilt where I call home

I can see plainly now where I've gone wrong
This is where I belong

(Post chorus)
Tear down these four walls

(Chorus)
Live in a castle I've built with my iron soul
Live in a mansion of guilt where I call home

I can see plainly now where I've gone wrong
